Method of Hunting
We favour the Walk & Stalk method of hunting, where the game is spotted and stalked on foot.
If you require game other than that which is unavailable in the Eastern Cape, these can be
hunted only if prior notice is given.
Arms and ammunition
In regards to the importation of arms, all the formalities are done on arrival at "Johannesburg
International Airport". All other hunting permits will be arranged by your professional hunter
before your arrival in South Africa. We suggest that clients use either a .300 Win mag for plains
game like springbok, mountain reedbuck and grey rhebok and in the densely wooded areas a
.270-300 mag. for kudu and the like. Small game, like the duikers, are best hunted using a
.300 mag. as it causes little damage. Fit your rifle with a good quality riflescope with variable power: 1,5-6 x 42, 2,2-9x42, or the like. For the transport of your rifle between hunting areas, a case is required.
Notes for the Hunter
South Africa is a vast country with many different types of vegetation. If certain species are sort
it is best to chose the animals that you would like to hunt, beforehand so that your safari can be
arranged accordingly. If you are a first timer to Africa we will arrange a most enjoyable safari in
the true African tradition. Whatever you chose to hunt we guarantee an enjoyable and ethical hunt.
Personal Insurance and Medical Aid for Hospitalization and Surgery, as well as any other
emergency must be arranged and finalised prior to the hunt.
Observers
Observers can experience the thrill of the hunt from the comfort of our 4x4. They can share in
the anticipation, the frustrations and the victories toasted at the end each hunt.
South Africa is well known as a nature lovers paradise, beautiful scenery and a large variety of
fauna and flora will keep you busy while the hunt is on. Arrangements can be made to spend
time in some of South Africa's major game parks like the "Kruger National Park" or the "Hluhluwe
Umfolozi" park in Kwazulu Natal, or you could simply relax at your chalet and soak up the sun ,
or enjoy a jacuzzi.
Seasons
It is possible to hunt in the Eastern Cape all year round, but remember it does get rather hot in the months of December and January. The winter months can be rather cold with morning temperatures sometimes slipping to 0 degrees Celsius. Snow is also a possibility in the mountains.
